Birthdays
Celebrating their Birthday yesterday was Sofia Diaz del Valle.  Happy “Belated” Birthday Sofia!  Celebrating Birthdays today are Laura Grace Ritten and Cheyenne Castoro.  And celebrating his “Second 40th Birthday” is Mr. Harry Hull!  Happy Birthday to ALL! 

OLA sports this week:

Student, please remember that you must report to the Commons each morning until the bell rings.  You cannot hang out in St. Joseph Hall, Mercy Hall or Johnson Hall.  All students must report to the Commons each morning.

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, so Hope Haven is collecting new school supplies for the kids in foster care.  See item specifications on flyers located around school.

Library News
This Friday is the last day that library books can be checked out; all books will be due by Friday, May 12. Any overdue fines must be paid by then as well.

Mrs. Gelpi needs three ambassadors in grades 9-12 to help serve on Saturday, May 6th at the Christian Life Center for First Holy Communion reception from 9-12. Service hours will be given. Please see Mrs. Gelpi this morning.

Attention Seniors!

As of today, I have collected money from four seniors for dinner tickets for her parents.  If you plan to attend the Senior Awards Banquet next Wednesday, please give your money to Mrs. Hinson by the end of the day today. We need to have a firm count so we can place the food order.  The tickets are $7.00 each (seniors are free).   Also, if anyone needs to purchase more than 2 tickets, please see Mrs. Cuevas ASAP.  Depending on the RSVP count, it may be possible to purchase up to 4 tickets to include stepparents.

OLA sports this week:
Today: Basketball banquet at 5:30.  Soccer tryouts 4:00-6:00. 
Friday: Tennis vs Newton County for 2nd round of playoffs.
Saturday: Track at South State Meet.

Anyone who wants to play volleyball next year, please sign up today.  The sign-up sheet will be in Coach Langham’s classroom.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Ok girls we need one last huge push to see raffle tickets!!!  Remember that if you sell $30.00 in raffle tickets you will be able to wear Nike shorts, t-shirt and sandals on May 18th.  If you sell $100.00 worth of tickets you get a 1/2 day at the beach and that money goes towards your class.  The class that sells the most tickets (by percentage) will be rewarded with a day at the Water Park!  

Also we are still looking for Silent Auction items!

Holy Redeemer, Help me seek your mercy, for I am a sinner.  I have turned too often from my Father and scorned my sisters and brothers.  Help me trust in your mercy, to know that the God whose image and likeness I bear though I have wandered far in darkness has prepared a place for me in his holy light.  Help me to show mercy for in blessing me with this holy gift, you have made me a disciple to share the message of your abundant clemency in my words, in my prayers and in my works, blessing those you have bid me to share my time with that my heart may reflect the radiant compassion of your own.  Mercy is the greatest attribute of God, may it too be my greatest attribute to Jesus.  Amen.

OLA golf won the district tournament yesterday.  Callee Breland was low medalist with an 82.  Kati Albright came in second with a 98.  And Gabby Zimmerman shot a 132. Great job ladies. They will compete in Tupelo for the State Championship next Monday and Tuesday.

Our OLA Tennis Team advanced to the 2nd District Playoffs for this Friday against Newton County at Home.  Congratulations and Good Luck!

Our OLA Track Team took 2nd in District and in Regionals.  Ten girls are moving on to South State to compete in thirteen individual races and two relays.  Congratulations and good luck.

God of such unwavering love, how do I "celebrate" the passion and death of Jesus?
I often want to look the other way and not watch, not stay with Jesus in his suffering.
Give me the strength to see his love with honesty and compassion and to feel deeply your own forgiveness and mercy for me.
Help me to understand how to "celebrate" this week.
I want be able to bring my weaknesses and imperfections with me as I journey with Jesus this week,
so aware of his love.  Amen.

Cruisin’ with the Crescents
Cruisin’ with Crescents Competition will end at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28.
1.  Individual students selling $100 or more in raffle tickets get a 1/2 day at the beach. 
2.  Class with the most combined money from sale of Cruisin'/Raffle tickets will get a day at the Waterpark. 
 
3.  Students selling 10 Cruisin' tickets will receive $100 tuition credit.  Please see class Presidents for tickets.

Attention Seniors:  DURING LUNCH TODAY:  All Seniors should submit their white shoes to Principal Cuevas today for approval and seniors will be given their Cap & Gown.   At this time, each senior will cast their vote for the OLA Lady who will Crown Mary on May 2nd

Cruisin’ with the Crescents
Cruisin’ with Crescents Competition will end at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 28.
1.  Individual students selling $100 or more in raffle tickets get a 1/2 day at the beach. 
2.  Class with the most combined money from sale of Cruisin'/Raffle tickets will get a day at the Waterpark. 
 
3.  Students selling 10 Cruisin' tickets will receive $100 tuition credit.  Please see class Presidents for tickets.

TESTING
After listening to the morning announcement, Juniors are to report to Mrs. Meyer’s room and Eighth Graders are to report to the designated testing rooms as posted.  All students are asked to be quiet in the halls during testing.

Attention Seniors:  On Monday, all Seniors will submit their white shoes to Principal Cuevas for approval and seniors will be given their Cap & Gown.   At this time, each senior will cast their vote for the OLA Lady who will Crown Mary on May 2nd

Following attendance check and collection of cell phones, Seniors are to report to St. Joseph Hall.  All other students are to report to their designated testing rooms as posted.  Remember to be quiet in the halls during testing.  Also, please do your very best on the ITBS testing.  If you score higher than you scored last year, you will earn a free field trip.

Thursday
Eighth Grade and Juniors (ASVAB test) will be testing on Thursday morning.  Students are asked to eat a good breakfast, arrive on time and report to their First Period class for attendance check and to turn in their cell phones.  After listening to the morning announcement, Juniors are to report to Mrs. Meyer’s room and Eighth Graders are to report to the designated testing rooms as posted.  All students are asked to be quiet in the halls during testing.

Congratulations to OLA's Jr. Youth Legislature delegation.  Avery Kearney and Megan Bryant did an amazing job as committee chairs.  Cali Reinhart received recognition as outstanding Senator and Samantha Prendergast and Regan Mortillaro's bill to require Health Inspections of Tattoo Parlors was signed into law.   And Lydia Cates was selected as Speaker Pro Tem.  Great job ladies!  Thanks for making my job easy.
