Today:  Soccer practice will end at 5:00 today. Make sure your rides are there to pick you up by 5:00.

Saturday: Cross Country State Meet in Jackson, Soccer at the Gulfport Sportsplex Tournament vs Oak Grove on Field 2 at 8:00, and vs St Martin on Field 1 at 11:00.

Band Fundraiser
The band is selling OLA Christmas ornaments.  Please see Anna Hazlette, Ashton Alderman, Eugenie Saunders, Arryana Kellum, Aly Theobald or Sofia Diaz de Valle for ordering.  Ornaments are $10.00 each.

College Recruiters
Loyola will be on the SSC campus TOMORROW.
Mississippi College will be on the SSC campus next Thursday, November 9th.

A reminder to Spanish Honor Society members, old and new and to the Faculty and Staff, on Thursday November 2, the Spanish Honor Society is sponsoring the annual Day of the Dead luncheon.  You are to be our guests, so don't order lunch!!!

OLA Sports this Week
Congratulations to the OLA Volleyball team on winning the Class l State Championship this past Saturday.
This makes their Fifth Consecutive State Championship; for a total of Twelve State Championships!  Thanks to Coach Mike and Coach Reboul and the rest of our coaching staff and parents for your support.   Way to go Crescents!

Congratulations to the OLA Swim team for their 3rd place finish at the State Meet on Saturday.
Individually the girls placed as follows:
Ø  200 medley relay ~ 2.02.41 ~ 3rd place new school record.  Grace Bradford, Madison Bradley, Ella Taylor, and Rylie Moore.
Ø  Grace Bradford 2nd place 100 breast.
Ø  Audrey Chang 200 free 3rd place.
Ø  Rylie Moore 200 IM 2nd place.
Ø  400 free relay 3rd place, and crushed school record by 10 sec 4:04.  Rylie Moore, Madison Bradley, Audrey Chang, and Ella Taylor.
Ø  Ella Taylor 100 back new school record 1:07. Great job ladies.
Thank you to all the faculty, parents, fans, and alumni for coming out to support our teams.

Also, congratulations to the OLA Soccer teams for their wins on Saturday over West Harrison. Varsity won 3-0 with 2 goals by Kiley Jacob and 1 by Aennia Bridges.  JV won 2-0 both goals by Alma Hearin. Great job Ladies.

Congratulations to the OLA Volleyball team for their semifinal win on Thursday in straight sets vs Alcorn Central by scores of: 25-9, 25-13, 25-13. They will play for the state championship Saturday at 11:00. Great job ladies.  OLA will play Resurrection Saturday at 11:00 for the Class l State Champion.

Today: Cheer at Pass High School
Saturday: Volleyball playing for the State Championship at 11:00 in Starkville, Swim at State Championships in Tupelo. 
This Saturday’s home soccer game times vs West Harrison have been moved up 1 hour. The Varsity will now start at 3:00 and the JV at 4:30.

Applications for both HYLA High School and HYLA Junior High are due TODAY, October 24th by 4:00 p.m.   The Junior High applications can be turned in to Mrs. Gelpi, but the High School applications MUST be turned in to our office at 454 Highway 90, Suite B. (Right next to PRCC)  All junior high student who are applying to HYLA should stop by the counselor’s office to confirm receipt of both the application and the letter of recommendation please be sure your application and letter have been received! 

Student Council is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest. If your grade or club is interested in decorating a pumpkin, please pick up a pumpkin from the chemistry lab.  Student Council is also collecting packs of socks as well as canned food items for the homeless shelter until October 27th. Turn your packs of socks into your class representatives to be eligible to wear crazy socks on Halloween!

The Induction Ceremony for National Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish and Art Honor Societies will be held TONIGHT at 6:00 in the community center.

Spanish Honor Society inductees and officers, please meet in Mrs. Bartels' room at lunch today, as we could not meet because of testing on Tuesday.

Student Council will be collecting packs of socks as well as canned food items for the homeless shelter until October 27th. Turn your packs of socks into your class representatives to be eligible to wear crazy socks on Halloween! 

Kalie with Ole Miss will be on campus in the Physics lab to present to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Please grab your lunch and bring your questions! Hotty Toddy!

Student council is hosting a pumpkin decorating contest. If your grade or club is interested in decorating a pumpkin, please pick up a pumpkin from the chemistry lab.

All Juniors who were elected to Spanish Honor Society last Spring, there is a mandatory meeting in Mrs. Bartels' room on today during lunch. This is for the induction ceremony.

Basketball is practicing today from 5:45-7:30pm.  Any girls interested in trying out, please attend this practice.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES
This past weekend, the Interact Club hosted a food drive for the Hancock County Food Pantry at Froogel’s. They were able to raise 19 boxes full of food as well as 5 grocery carts full of bags of food! They also raised $516.91 in donations! Great job ladies!!!

Quarterly Honor Roll
The list for Quarterly Honor Roll is posted on the office window and in St. Joseph Hall.  The Honor Roll Breakfast is Wednesday morning starting at 8:00 a.m.  All Honor Roll Students are welcome to a free Breakfast in the Commons on Wednesday morning.

ACT TESTING, Very Important Message:  In the morning, all Juniors and Seniors MUST be at the OLG Community Center no later than 8:00 a.m.  When you arrive, you MUST check in with Mrs. Gelpi and give her your cell phone.  Please bring an approved calculator and bring a snack and bottle of water or drink. You may wear comfortable clothes (sweat pant, jeans) for testing but you must bring your school uniform to change into for the remainder of the school day.
