Team up for St. Jude
Students, please give your $3.00 to your first period teacher.  Teachers, please check student dress this morning and send to the office if not dress appropriately.  

Attention 10-12th graders.   Youth legislature is a starting and if you like DEBATE, PUBLIC POLICY AND MEETING NEW PEOPLE, then this organization is for you.  We will hold an informational meeting WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 5 in room 17 immediately after school.   The meeting should only last 30 minutes so please make transportation arrangements and tell your coaches you will be late.

OLA Sports This Week:
Congratulations to the OLA Varsity Volleyball team on their straight set win vs district rival Ressurection Thursday night. Great job ladies.  Congratulations to the OLA Middle School Volleyball teams on their play Thursday night vs North Gulfport. Both A & B Teams won in two sets... Hi scores for B Team were Marley Kinniburg and Marlie Klein.  High scorers for A Team were Ava McArthur and Emily Kothman. 
Great job ladies.
Congratulations to the OLA Cross County teams on their finish Thursday night. Both teams did well against a tough field and a muddy course. Varsity finished 7th out of 12 and JH finished 1st with 2 top 10 finishes. Ava Banks in 5th and Sammy Robertson in 7th. Great job ladies.

We are taking t-shirt orders for Janna's Journey to help the family with medical expenses, t-shirt cost is $20.00.  If you would like to purchase a shirt, please send your check (made payable to Lisa Babin) or cash in an envelope and give to Mrs. Hinson.  On the outside of the envelope, please list name(s), size of t-shirt(s), with the total amount enclosed(Since donations are being made directly to the Babin family, this amount 
can NOT be charged to your FACTS account).  Deadline to submit your order is Friday, September 7th

Tomorrow, we will be joining SSC for a “kick-off” pep rally.  Students who donate $3.00 to St. Jude will be allowed to wear jeans, a yellow shirt (it must be school appropriate), and shoes with a back. You will give your $3.00 to your first period teacher.  

Last call for anyone who wants to run for office for CAC....we still need people to run for 7th grade representative.  If you have signed up and still need a packet please pick up TODAY as permission slips are due FRIDAY and require a parent's signature.  CAC will hold elections Thursday Sept 6 in room 17 starting at 8am anyone who would like to vote come by and vote.  REMEMBER PARTICIPATION IS THE HALLMARK OF DEMOCRACY. 

OLA Sports This Week:
Congratulations to the OLA Swim team on their win over D’Iberville and West Harrison last night, with a total score of 160. Great job ladies.

Today: JV/Varsity Volleyball at home vs Ressurection at 5:30/6:30, Middle School Volleyball at North Gulfport at 5:00/6:00, Cross Country at George County Meet.  Cross Country will be checking out at 12:47 today.  If you did not turn in your cell phone to the office, please do so at the end of 1st period.

Come out and support your OLA Volleyball teams as they face district rival Ressurection Thursday night. JV starts at 5:30 with varsity to follow. THIS IS A WHITE OUT GAME so wear white to support your Crescents.

Janna’s Journey 
We will be taking orders in the office for anyone who would like to purchase a t-shirt in support of seventh grader, Janna Babin. A picture of the shirt can be seen in the office window. Stop in and let Mrs. Hinson know what size you will need. Shirts will cost $20. This is a fundraiser for the Babin family to help with medical expenses. After the order is placed and shirts come in, we will decide on a day for all students and faculty to wear them to school. Deadline to order is Friday.

You will give your $3.00 to your first period teacher. Please consider making a donation even if you do not want to wear the jeans and a yellow shirt. Let's join the effort in fighting childhood cancer!

ATTENTION 7TH, 8TH AND 9TH GRADERS--I do not have anyone signed up to run for CAC representative.  Please consider getting involved in this great organization that fosters school spirit and positive attitudes.   Sign up on door Room 17 (Mrs. Cuevas).  Those of you who have signed up, make sure you have your position packet and get your form signed and returned by FRIDAY AUGUST 31st.

Crescents Athletic Club:  Good morning Crescents--CAC is an organization that promotes school spirit daily, it is a club where you can interact with other crescents and organize activities to build school spirit and promote good attitudes and positive environment.   CAC is in charge of Pep Rallies, Senior Night and Intramurals as well as service on campus and off campus.  CAC will be holding elections after Labor Day but a sign- up sheet is on Mrs. Cuevas's door Room 17.  Please read the directions on each office as there are class requirements.  Once you have signed up, make sure you get your informational packet from Mrs. Cuevas and return your signed election agreement by August 31.    For questions please ask Mrs. Cuevas

Congratulations to the OLA Swim team on their 1st place finish out of 10 teams at the Gulf Coast Invitational at Biloxi Natatorium on Saturday  And Congratulations to the OLA Volleyball team on making it to the semifinals at the 17th annual Gulf Coast Kick Off Classic.  And Congratulations to the OLA Robotics team on placing sixth out of 33 teams and making it to the quarterfinals of the Red Stick Rumble in Baton Rouge on Saturday.  Great job ladies.

Dear Lord, As our students attend OLA, I pray that you will keep them in your care.  Send your Spirit to open their minds to all that is true and beautiful and good.  Help them to see the gifts and talents you have given them and to use them well.  Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom.  Help them to be kind to others and lead others to be kind to them.  Give their teachers patience and understanding and help them teach what is just and true.  Send your angels to guide and guard our students and to keep them from all harm.  Open their young hearts to your presence and enfold them in your peace and protection.  Hold them in the palm of your hand and bring them home safely at days end.

The A-Team dropped two close sets 25-20 and 26-24. Ana Laura Williford was the high scorer with 7 points. Great job ladies. 

Saturday: OLA Volleyball Tournament first game is at 8:00 a.m. last game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.

This morning, we would like to offer a special prayer for our classmate Janna Babin, who is in Oschners Hospital in New Orleans. Janna was recently diagnosed with leukemia.  We pray for a complete and full recovery.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Lord Jesus, in you all healing is performed. You Lord are the miracle worker. In your Spirit, your gift of healing is alive. In you Lord we can put our trust that you can heal.  You, Lord are miracle worker for the sick.  You cleanse us and make us born again new. You give us a clean heart full of peace. You Lord are the Light.  You Lord are our medicine. Your Words Lord are Truth and Life.

Be with us today
Fill our hearts with joy
Fill our minds with learning
Fill our classrooms with peace
Fill our lessons with fun
Fill our friendships with kindness
Fill our school with love

As we pray:
Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES
Taekwondo Club meet every Monday at 3:45 in the science lab across from Mrs. Carter’s room. The club is open to all OLA students. 

Join campus ministry tomorrow at both lunches for a Taste of Prayer!  Bring your lunch and join us for a lunchtime mini-retreat.  OLA retreat team members will lead you in taking a break from the day while enjoying some fellowship, fun, and faith. You may even meet some new friends. Fourth lunch will meet in Ms. Patton’s room and fifth lunch will meet in Mrs. Mayer’s room. Weather permitting, we will move outside to picnic.

Interact Club is having an interest meeting tomorrow morning at 8:00 in Mrs. Carter’s room (Room 24)

PTO Meeting, TODAY at 6:00 p.m. in the Commons.

OLA Sports This Week:
Softball Team must meet with Mrs. Koons TODAY at 3:30 in Coach Langham’s office in the gym to return all softball uniforms and gear.

Congratulations to Tina Roberts, Emma Lee Nehlig, and Allison Lyons for earning your yellow belts yesterday! What an accomplishment! OLA Sports This Week:
Last night’s Middle School Volleyball, the B Team came up short, but high scorers were Grace Oliver & Marley Kinniburgh.  A Team won 2 out of 3 sets with  high scorer of the night 7th grader Emily Kothman.
Good job ladies. 

Today: JV/ Varsity Volleyball at Vancleave at 5:30/6:30

Softball Team must meet with Mrs. Koons on tomorrow at 3:30 in Coach Langham’s office to return all softball uniforms and gear.

OLA Sports This Week:
Today: Middle School VB at home vs West Wortham at 5:30/6:30
Tuesday: JV/ Varsity Volleyball at Vancleave at 5:30/6:30
Thursday: Middle School Volleyball at Delisle Elementary at 5:00/6:00, JV/Varsity Volleyball at Ocean Springs at 5:30/6:30. 
Saturday: OLA Volleyball Tournament first game is at 8:00 a.m. last game is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
Swim at Biloxi for the Coastal Invitational.

TODAY, Mrs Koons will be taking swim senior banner pictures at 3:45 at the pool and Cross Country at the pavilion at 4:15ish. All swim and cross country seniors who have not had their pictures taken must be there.

School Newspaper meeting next Tuesday at 8:00 in Mrs. Fucich’s room for any Juniors and Seniors who are interested in contributing to our new school newspaper.

OLA Sports This Week:
Congratulations to the OLA 9th grade Volleyball team and the JV Volleyball team on their wins over Hancock Thursday night. 

Also Both Middle School teams lost their matches to Long Beach in very close play. High points for the A Team was Ana Laura Williford and high points for the B Team was Katie Koenenn.
