OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Good Morning OLA!  Today is Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

Morning Offering and Special Intentions:
Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  Let us offer our special intentions as we continue to pray for Janna Babin, Mrs. Bennett’s husband and daughter, and their families.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

1 Peter 5:8-9 - Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Satan is real. He and his power are intended to harm. But rather than spending our time worrying about him, let's resist him when we are tempted and focus on Jesus. He's the one who won the big showdown at Calvary, triumphing over Satan. He took Satan's greatest tool and disarmed it. Now we can resist and Satan will flee.

Thank you, Almighty God, for sending Jesus to break Satan's stranglehold over us. Through Jesus we pray…

Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Please remain standing for the Pledge:
I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which is stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Good Morning OLA!  Today is Tuesday, October 30, 2018.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.

Thoughts on today's verse:  The greatest gift we've ever received has nothing to do with our efforts. It is a gift from God. We didn't earn it, deserve it, or purchase it. God gave it through his sacrificial gift so our salvation would not be our boast, but his kindness.

Holy God, we can never thank you enough for sending Jesus and paying the debt for our sins. May we never take the cost of your gift lightly.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:1 - I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your spiritual act of worship.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Because God went first and sacrificed what is most precious to him to save us, he can ask us to surrender ourselves to him.

Holy and Righteous Savior, we pledge today to live for you in a way that leaves nothing outside your Lordship and control. Through Jesus we pray…

Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen

Morning Offering and Special Intentions:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:16-17:  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Thoughts on today's verse:  God wants us to be prepared to do good works. Thankfully he gave us the Scriptures. But we must remember that the goal of Scripture is not to be learned but to be lived.

Holy God, it still amazes me that you chose to speak to us, your finite creatures, in our own words. May we never take for granted the great gift of being able to read your Word and learn your Truth. Give us the character and the courage to put it into practical use and let it train us to do your will.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  Let us offer our special intentions as we continue to pray for Janna Babin, Mrs. Bennett’s husband and daughter, and their families.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:19-20:  Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Hearts full of thanks -- that's what makes for good singing! With Jesus as the source of our salvation and center of our future, how can we not sing!  But singing is not just for us and God.  God wants our songs to bless others. It is our ultimate spiritual talk.

O Lord, my God, you are Awesome and wondrous. Your works are magnificent and your deeds are beyond comprehension. You alone are worthy of my praise, my songs, and my life. Through Jesus we pray.

Galatians 6:2:  Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Thoughts on today's verse:  We feel so burdened ourselves, that sometimes we can't even see others' burdens. But Jesus reminds us that if we are to be like him, we will be the burden carriers. This is why he came, why he died, and why his resurrection is so important -- to lift from us the burdens of sin, death, and depravity.

Prayer:  Compassionate Father, help us to see and respond to the burdens in other lives around us. We want to be a blessing to the broken and discouraged, so please help us find our place and our way of serving to your glory.  In Jesus' name we pray.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Psalms 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Rather than seeing this as a way to get our wish list granted, let's see it for what it really is -- an invitation to seek a love relationship with God above all other things. In finding him, we will find our priorities properly aligned and our hearts tuned to know what is really valuable and what is not. Then we will see that what we have in him is our heart's greatest desire.
As we pray:
Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.  Amen

Psalms 27:14 - Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Thoughts on today's verse:  If there is anything we don't like to do, it's wait. There is something purifying about remaining strong in tough times and remaining faithful when ill winds blow. So God gives us times of waiting to see if our search is really for him or merely for something new.

Loving Father, Help us as we wait for you to show us the way with our decisions, to meet our needs, and reveal your presence in our loneliness.  We seek you with all our hearts.
