Thank You for being the Prince of Peace, and I ask You for that supernatural peace to reign in our hearts. Thank You for the simple but life-changing message of Your love for us. Congratulations to the 10th grade class for selling the most Make-A-Wish stars! You will be rewarded with a donut party.

All decorations must be removed from lockers before leaving school today.  Please make sure that no trash is left on the floor or in the hallways.   PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK THE TABLE IN THE MAIL HALLWAY.  If any textbooks are left on the table, you will need to pay a fine to retrieve your book.  ALL OTHER ITEMS LEFT ON THIS TABLE WILL BE TAKEN TO GOODWILL.  So, please check the table before leaving school today.

Seniors, please clean out the Senior Lounge before leaving for the Christmas Holidays.  NO FOOD SHOULD BE LEFT IN THE LOUNGE!   If not cleaned, you could jeopardize losing this senior privilege.

If you would like to be on the Archery team this year, sign up on the list outside Mrs. Corr’s room. ARCHERY MEETING TODAY @2pm in Mrs. Corr's room.  Practices will begin after Christmas break. 

BAKE SALE! Art Honor Society will be having a bake sale TODAY during the break between 2nd and 7th Period Exam. The bake sale will be by the swing.

Starting today, we will play Christmas music over the intercom while switching classes. So, when the music starts playing, class is over, students please report to your next class.  When the music stops, this would be considered as the tardy bell.  Kind of like musical chairs :)

Nativity, today at 1:00.   Following lunch, at 12:55 all students will report back to their 7th period class. Everyone will walk to the nativity with their 7th period class.

The OLA Bus to Picayune will depart at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; The SSC Bus will depart at 3:30 on these days.

Athletic practices are to end at 5 p.m. daily during testing.  No athletic competitions on December 18, 19, 20

Semester Examinations are one and one-half hours in length and are comprehensive in nature.  The score is included in the second quarter grades and count 20% to 25% of the second quarter average.  Semester exams are administered during the last week of the semester.  Students will be required to pay $100 per exam for alternate scheduling of semester exams.

·         A senior may be exempt from final examinations in ½ credit courses if:

1. The teacher approves.

2. The grades in the course for Quarter 1 are “A”.

3. The student continues to complete assignments and cooperates in the class until the time for the final   

    examination.

4. The student has not been absent more than three days from the course during the semester.

5.  Students must monitor absentees posted in the computer.  School records will not be changed after  

     one week following the absence.

Father, all-powerful God, your eternal Word took flesh on our earth when the Virgin Mary placed her life at the service of your plan. Lift our minds in watchful hope to heart the voice which announces his glory and open our minds to receive the Spirit who prepares us for his coming. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Jesse Tree.   Monday, December 18 – Lily

The lily symbolizes Mary, the Mother of Christ. Mary is one of the greatest heroes of Scripture.  Speaking to one of God’s messengers must have been terrifying, and she was taking great risk when she said yes to becoming the mother of the Messiah. She was a young girl living in a small village where every fault is criticized.  She faced an unknown future and punishment by being young, pregnant, and without a husband. 

Her bravery and decision made it possible for us to discover what it means to live in Jesus. 

Mary didn’t tell God that his way was too hard.  She accepted her calling willingly and with great love.  We pray that she will point us to closer relationship with Jesus and that we will learn from her to say YES to God’s plan for our lives despite any difficulty and fear.

OLA Sports this Week:

Congratulations to the OLA Junior High Soccer team on their 4-0 win over St Patrick on Saturday. With goals by: Lilly Lundgren, Liza Richoux and 2 by Ava McArthur. Lexie Ladner had a shut out in the goal.
They also beat Oak Grove 2-1 with goals by: Grace Shruff and Ava McArthur goals. Great job ladies.

I pray that You will fill me up that I may be joyful all day, even if stress creeps in. I know that through my contentment, You will be glorified. I want to honor You, Father, in all that I do. The Jesse Tree.   Friday, December 15 – Temple

David’s son, Solomon, is honored in Scripture as the wisest monarch. When God offered Solomon anything he wanted, Solomon prayed for wisdom so that he could be a good leader of God’s people. Though he used a real sword to make his point, he used his wisdom, the sword of justice, to divide truth from lies.

God foretold that David's son and heir, Solomon, would be the one to build a temple to the Lord God. Solomon did in fact complete the construction of the temple during his reign. The Temple became a great place of worship, sacrifice, and pilgrimage for the Israelites. 

May we look to God and His Word as we seek to grow in knowledge, wisdom, and truth.

Congratulations to the OLA Junior High soccer team for their 5-0 win over North Woolmarket Thursday night with goals by: Gabby Ferrill, Peyton Laurent, Olivia Tartavoulle, and 2 by Samantha Robertson. Lexie Ladner had a shutout in the goal. Great job ladies.

Fast pitch softball tryouts will be today from 4:00-5:30.  Anyone interested, see Mr. Langham.

Today:  Elf Day/Tree Day: Dress like elf, Santa, or your favorite Christmas character (pajamas are not allowed):  Bring in a toy item (especially toddler toys)

Come out to our 1st "Late Night Breakfast" Study Session on Monday, December 18th from 530 to 730 pm in the OLA Commons, hosted by Mu Alpha Theta.  Come study with your friends, ask your teachers those last minute exam questions, and enjoy some bacon (and other breakfast foods)!  Any questions, see Ms. Ashley.

Afternoon Announcements for December 14, 2017

Bring in a toddler toy tomorrow for Campus Ministry and have "holiday dress head to toe."  Dress as a Christmas tree, present, character, etc...  Dress should be Christmas themed and school appropriate.  No leggings, nothing short, tight, see through.  If you are wearing PJs as part of your costume, they must be Christmas themed and the thick flannel or fuzzy type.  No nightgown.  NO ONE MAY WEAR PAJAMAS OF ANY KIND TO ST STANISLAUS.

We want you to have fun, but remember Catholic school appropriate is key.  If you are deemed not appropriate, you will need to sit in the front office and will be considered absent from classes until a parent brings you a uniform.

The Jesse Tree.   Thursday, December 14 – Crown

The crown is a symbol for David, the greatest of the Kings of Israel.  God saw that even though David was flawed, he had a deep faith.  He chose David to be king even when he was just a small boy. David was a great poet, and in the psalms he described God as a rock, fortress, stronghold, deliverer, shield, and refuge.  God aids David with great forced of nature which help him defeat his enemies.  Even though David is not always faithful, God is, and God’s covenant to David is steadfast and enduring.

Let us offer our special intentions for Mrs. Mayer’s mother-in-law and Mrs. Bennett’s husband and their families.   We especially offer our prayer of thankfulness for the return of our classmate Maci Clarke as we pray:  Lord, we thank you for the lives of our OLA students.  We thank you that we are healthy. We pray that you will protect our bodies and help them to continue to grow strong.  Protect us from illness and harm, Lord.  As Maci returns to school today, we pray that she will know that she is created in your image.  We pray that she will know that she is “fearfully and wonderfully made”.  We pray that she will know that You created Maci exactly the way that you want her to be.  Protect her heart and help Maci to rest in the truth that she is a priceless gift to us and, most importantly, to You…so much so that you sent your son for Maci and for all of us at OLA.  Amen.

Wednesday, December 13 – Baby in a Basket

Today we place the baby in a basket on the Jesse Tree to symbolize God’s covenant with Moses.  Moses means “drawn for the water.”  He was saved from the killing of the firstborn Israelites by Pharaoh when his mother placed him in a basket in the river.  Pharaoh’s daughter found him and raised him.  God revealed his name “I am who I am” to Moses and called him to set the Israelites free from slavery in Egypt.  Moses led them out following the Passover and received the Ten Commandments from God.  May we be reminded of the covenant we made with God in our Baptism.  May we strive to honor our relationship with him and live lives that love God and neighbor.

Saturday: Varsity soccer at Perry Central at 1:00, Junior High Soccer at Gulfport Sportsplex tournament.

Fast pitch softball tryouts will be Thursday and Friday from 4:00-5:30.  Anyone interested, see Mr. Langham.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES

The Commons and Courtyard:  Please remember to clean up after yourselves when finished with lunch.  Too much trash is being left on the tables, floors and the courtyard grounds.

Make-A-Wish Foundation, stars are $1.00 each.  The class that purchases the most stars will win a donut party.

Student Council will be hosting a Movie Night this Friday, December 15th in the Commons (The Polar Express).  It will be from 6:30 to 9:30; the movie starts at 7. Hot chocolate and popcorn will be provided. Admittance is $5. 

Campus Ministry Christmas Spirit Week:  Teachers, please make sure that your first period class turns in the necessary items and has the appropriate spirit wear and issue a violation if not.  Send your items to Mrs. Mayer's room during eighth period. 

Today:  Wear hair accessories like hats, headbands, etc.:  Bring in Christmas cookies (can be homemade or store bought in the tins)

Thursday:  Wear Tacky Christmas Sweaters, with your OLA skirt and school approved shoes:  Bring hat, scarf, sweater/jacket, or socks (can be lightly used, and especially for newborn girls)

Friday:  Elf Day/Tree Day (Dress like elf, Santa, or your favorite Christmas character):  Bring in a toy item (especially toddler toys)

Past-Due Charges & Fines

Listen-Up OLA Students for An Important Message:  Lunch Charges, Library Fines and other Past-Due Charges are posted in the office window.  Please take the time to view the lists and clear your accounts ASAP.  All charges must be paid by Friday in order to take exams.  Again, all fees must be paid by Friday.
