Good Morning OLA!   Today is Wednesday, December 18, 2019.  Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Let us offer our special intentions for those in need of our prayers.  We continue to pray for Janna Babin, Mrs. Bennett’s husband and their families. 

Father, be with us as we take our exams.  Keep our minds alert and our memory sharp.  Calm our nerves and help us to concentrate.  We know that you walk with us, guiding our paths and inspiring our hearts.  We pray that we feel you with us, and thank you for your peace and your love in our life.  Through Jesus we pray.

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES

There will be no Math Path or Taekwondo this week. The fun will resume after Christmas.

Class Christmas parties are TOMORROW during lunch. Classes are to plan their own parties, but please do not bring in an over abundance of food. The grades will meet in the following rooms:  7th grade - The Commons.  8th grade - Mrs. Guichet's room.  9th grade - Mrs. Fucich's room.  10th grade - Mrs. Cuevas's room.  11th grade - Ms. Chapman's room.  12th grade - Senior Lounge.

On Friday, all students and staff can wear a Christmas or “Christmas colors” shirt, with jean (no holes or tears) and closed back shoes.

At the end of the school day, students are to exit via the carline or the back gate.  STUDENTS ARE NOT TO EXIT THROUGH THE COMMONS TO HOLY TRINITY, NOR THE FRONT LOBBY DOOR.  ALL STUDENTS must exit through the carline or the back gate to the student parking lot.

Also, students PLEASE check the table across from Ms. Chapman’s room.  All items left on this table will be taken to Goodwill on Friday.  Claire Whitney, Eileen Masterson, Sophia Miller, Lillie Lawhead, and Anna Schmidt…. You have textbooks on this table, please pick up as soon as possible. 

St. Stanislaus Diamond Girls applications are available in the office.  Please make sure you have returned your application and teacher evaluations by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, January 10^th.  Interviews will be held on Wednesday, January 15^th.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Let us offer our special intentions for those in need of our prayers.  We continue to pray for Janna Babin, Mrs. Bennett’s husband and their families. 

Luke 1:26-28   God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

Thoughts on today's verse:   Wow! Such a familiar sentence packed with emotion. "The Lord is with you."
Our request, "Be with us Lord, we cannot live without you. We cannot bear to take one step alone."  Father, we need your abiding presence to face the challenges of life.  We are thankful to greet each day knowing that we will not face it alone.   Through Jesus we pray.

Diamond Girls – There will be a meeting after school TODAY in the Commons, come see what the Diamond Girls are all about.   

The varsity soccer team beat Resurrection on Saturday 5-0.  Elizabeth Elkins scored 2 goals, Nina Palazzo, Emilie Martin and Aubrey Wawrek each had one.  Paige Palazzo had 7 saves.

Matthew 2:4-6   When King Herod had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written: 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'"

Thoughts on today's verse:  You, O Lord, are God Almighty, the holy and majestic Creator. Yet you became the least so we can share in your glory. Please help us to never look down on someone else because they look like the least. We know, Father, that as we serve and love them, we are serving and loving you.  Through Jesus we pray.

The varsity soccer team beat Columbia High School 11-0. The following girls each scored goals: Peyton Laurent (3), Emilie Martin (2), Ava McArthur, Aubrey Wawrek, Paige Palazzo, Ashlynn Davis, Adisson Capo and Elizabeth Elkins.

The varsity basketball team will play Resurrection at home tonight at 5 pm.

The varsity soccer team will play Resurrection at home on Saturday at 3 pm.

Galatians 4:4-5   When the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.

Thoughts on today's verse:  God waited until history reached his appointed time and sent Jesus so we could be his children -- not pretend children, but real children, with full rights.  While I know that I will never be a perfect child, I rest today in the confidence that I am your child and that you claim me. Through Jesus we pray.

Isaiah 7:14   The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Thoughts on today's verse:  God is interested in us personally. So much so that he personally gives us this sign - Jesus coming to live as God with us. Holy and Almighty Lord, we thank you for coming to live among us in Jesus.   We thank you and praise you for your sacrifice and pain. We know this sign cost you greatly so please let our praise in prayer, song, thought and life reflect our thanks to you, Through Jesus we pray.

The varsity soccer team beat St. Patrick last night 2-1.  Aubrey Warwek scored 2 goals and Paige Palazzo had 5 saves. The JV team also beat St. Patrick.

Due to expected bad weather, there will be no Sailing practice today.

There is a Track interest meeting today in the Physics lab during both lunches.

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Tuesday, December 10, 2019.  Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Let us offer our special intentions for those in need of our prayers.  We especially pray for Mrs. Bennett’s husband and their family.  We also pray for Janna as she leaves today for St. Jude.  We pray for her continued health and full recovery.   

Deuteronomy 18:15   The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like [Moses] from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Jesus is that prophet like Moses. He has come and taught us God's truth.  He is teaching us through his abiding presence in us and through the Spirit he has given us. But he teaches us most effectively when we put into practice what he has said.

Lord, Help us not only hear his voice, but listen to his message and life and put it into practice today.  Gently correct and lead us in the way of obedience so that we may more perfectly glorify you with the worship of our daily life. Through Jesus we pray.

Tomorrow is a School Mass at the OLG church starting at 9:55 a.m.   All students are to wear oxford shirt, school skirt, and uniform shoes.  As always, parents are invited to attend. 

OLA Sports:

Softball tryouts are Monday from 4-6. There might be an additional day but plan for just Monday right now. 

There will be an Archery sign-up sheet on the window by the office this week. Please sign up if you are interested in Archery.

The varsity soccer team beat Long Beach on Friday night 2-1. 

The soccer team beat Perry Central 2 times on Saturday with scores of 12-0 and 8-0. 

Junior high soccer will play at home vs. Bay Middle School at 5:30.  Junior high basketball will play at Pearl River Central at 5:30.  Varsity basketball will play at Purvis at 6

Congratulations to the sailing team, they won third place at this weekend’s Regatta.

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Friday, December 6, 2019.  Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Let us offer our special intentions for those in need of our prayers.  We especially pray for Mrs. Bennett’s husband and their family.  

John 10:14-15   [Jesus said,] "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me - just as the Father knows me and I know the Father - and I lay down my life for the sheep."

Thoughts on today's verse:  In a world where so many people want to attract our attention and are willing to give us advice, we can refuse their voice. We listen to Jesus because he has shown his love for us by laying down his life for us. He is the Good Shepherd.

Holy Father, Help me hear his voice through your Word. Help me hear his voice through the wise counsel of spiritual friends. Father, I want to follow your Son as my Shepherd and Lord because I know he, like you, is good!  Through Jesus we pray…

Next Tuesday, December 10^th is a School Mass at the OLG church starting at 9:55 a.m.   All students are to wear oxford shirt, school skirt, and uniform shoes.  As always, parents are invited to attend.

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Wednesday, December 4, 2019.  Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.  

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Let us offer our special intentions for those in need of our prayers.  We especially pray for Mrs. Bennett’s husband and her family.  

John 8:12   When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Thoughts on today's verse:  To follow Jesus means to bring him our heart and let him cast everything from the darkness. In this way, Jesus gives us light that illumines the heart.

Holy God who lives in glorious and irrepressible light, we praise you for sending Jesus to cast away our dark fears.  We pray for strength and courage to not only live in the light, but show others their way to the light. In Jesus name we pray.

John 6:35   Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."

Thoughts on today's verse:  We crave food at regular intervals during the day. During this holiday season food occupies our thoughts and fills up our activities. But deep in our soul is a hunger, a soul hunger. It cannot be filled by food, drink, or chemicals. This hunger was the desire built into us by our Creator, placed there when he knit us together in our mother's womb. This hunger can only be satiated by Jesus.

Please fill me, my Father, with Jesus. Give me today, my Daily Bread, that I may find life in all its fullness. Precious Lord, Jesus my brother and Savior, fill me and touch me with your presence so that I can serve you by blessing those around me with your grace. Through Jesus we pray

Hebrews 1:1-2  In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

Thoughts on today's verse: God is a speaking God. He loves us and has chosen to get his message to us in words. But God's greatest message, his most powerful words, were not really words at all, but a person named Jesus of Nazareth, who is Christ and Lord of all.  Holy Father, help me to see Jesus and his work and purpose more clearly as I open your Book and seek to understand your will. Fill me with your Spirit, so that I may greet each decision awakened to the answer to "What would Jesus do?" Through Jesus, my Lord and Savior we pray.

Congratulations to the Sailing Team for their fine performance at the Great Oaks National Invitational Regatta over the holidays. The first day, the team qualified to sail in the Gold Division, ultimately placing 8th in a field of 28 teams from across the country. Sailing for the team were: Claire Housey, William Diaz, Addie Altese, Joel Grumme, and Graham Kalom. The team will sail in the Sugar Bowl Regatta this coming weekend.

OLA Spirit Day at Chic-Fil-A MONDAY

OLA Soccer Spirit Day/Night.  Come out tonight from 6-8 and see the players and a player dressed up as the Cow.  And mention OLA all week to support the soccer team.
