IMPORTANT MESSAGES

Math Path

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, Ms. Ashley will again be holding Math Path every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 for any students who need help in any math class. This is for all students in 7th-12th grades. If you need any extra help or just want extra practice, please take advantage of this opportunity.

Service Hours Opportunity at Our Lady of the Gulf:  OLG is looking for students to help with babysitting for adult faith formation and RCIA classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.  If you are interested in either day, please sign the list on Mrs. Mayer's office door and include your contact number.

If you would like to run for a leadership position in CAC please stop by Mrs. Cuevas's room (room 17) and pick up a packet.   Permission slips are due back signed by Thursday September 5 and elections will be at both lunches Monday September 9.   We need representatives for every grade so please consider getting involved. 

2nd Annual Run for Mercy 5K  Come out and join us for our 2nd annual Run for Mercy 5K on Saturday Sept 21 at the Washington Street Pier.  Registration is $ 20.00 for all students.  Let's see what class can claim "the fastest" in the school!!! You will be able to wear the 5k T-shirt with skirt and school shoes on Monday Sept 23^rd.  Please see Ms. Chapman with any questions.

The OLA Taekwondo Club will meet after school today.  It is not too late to join, please stop by the office if interested.

OLA Sports

OLA cross country traveled to Lucedale on Thursday for the George County Trail run. Our varsity runners completed the 5K race with the following times: 
Colleen Nolan, 25 minutes 4 seconds
Ava Gordon, 31 minutes 19 seconds
Geordie Flickinger, 32 minutes 24 seconds
Cali Reinhart, 32 minutes 32 seconds
Sydney Burrell, 34 minutes 52 seconds
Madison Burrell, 34 minutes 59 seconds
Eugenie Saunders, 44 minutes 46 seconds
Our junior high runners completed the 4K race with the following times:
Faith Ponte, 25 minutes 48 seconds
Maddie Prendergast, 28 minutes 11 seconds
Running Crescents travel to Gulfport for the Sand Dash Race on Thursday, September 5th.”

And it was a great night for volleyball!!  The Junior Varsity beat Vancleave in 2 sets!! The scores were 25-23 and 25-21. 
The Varsity beat Vancleave in 5 sets. The scores were 25-19, 20-25, 29-27, 22-25, & 19-17. 
Becca Walk had 47 kills, 6 blocks,  & 15 digs
Ashley Bulot had 10 pts, 6 kills, 33 assists, & 8 digs
Camille Cottone had 14 pts, 4 aces, 10 kills & 21 digs
Grace Koons had 7 digs
Chloe Cornell had 10 pts, 5 kills, & 12digs
Kate Montjoy had 17 pts, 5 aces, 4 kills, & 5 digs
Kate Funk had 26 assists & 4 digs
Alma Hearin had 6 digs. 
The varsity team is 13-2.

The junior high A and B Teams both won in 2 against North Gulfport. 
The scores of the B Team were 25-15 and 25-23. High points was Julia Hoffman. 
The A Team won 25-17 and 25-17.
High point scorer was Ava Alonzo at 13 with 2 Kills.

ATTENTION ALL CRESCENTS:  If you want to run for an officer position for our Crescent Athletics Club, please pick up a permission slip and officer description list ASAP.  Permission slips are due TUESDAY and elections will be MONDAY September 9.  We need several club leadership positions but we need representatives from all grades so get involved.  CAC is a club for anyone who wants to get involved and loves OLA.  We promote school spirit in all aspects from service projects, attending sporting events, planning pep rallies, planning intramurals and promoting school pride every day.  SO STOP BY AND PICK UP A PACKET FROM MRS. OLA Sports

The Swim Team won their meet last night against Vancleave! The next swim meet is on September 3rd at SSC.

The Varsity volleyball team played at Long Beach and won in 3 sets. The scores were 25-16, 25-14, & 25-21.The leaders were Becca Walk with 34 kills, 7 blocks, & 12 digs.  Ashley Bulot with 11 hits, 20 assists & 7 digs. Camille Cottone with 15 pts, 5 aces, & 18 digs. Kate Montjoy with 10 pts. Chloe Cornell with 7 digs. Kate F with 15 assists.

The JV Volleyball team lost in 3 sets to Long Beach.  The next game is at Vancleave tomorrow. JV at 5:30, V at 6:30.

The OLA Junior High played Hancock Middle at their gym last night, B Team lost in 2. 25-19. 25-11. 
Lucy Seal, Julia Hoffman and Ava Gartman each had 1 Kill.  A Team WON in 2.  25-15    25-14.  High points scorer was Ava Alonso with 13 points & 4 Kills!!  Brooklyn Bourgeois had 2 Kills as well.

OLA Sports

The OLA swim team won the Biloxi Invitational Meet with a score of 229 on Saturday. This was their first meet! Their next meet is tomorrow at SSC, starts at 5 pm. 

The varsity volleyball team lost in the semi-finals to Hancock in our Gulf Coast Kickoff Classic Tournament. Thank you to everyone that helped make the tournament a success. The JV and Varsity teams play again on tomorrow at Long Beach. JV starts at 5:30 and Varsity follows.

Today, we have our 1^st Pep Rally of the school year at SSC, so we will be on the pep rally bell schedule.

There is a sign-up sheet for "big" Youth legislature so if you are a sophomore, junior or senior and love to debate and are interested in the politics you should sign up.  No commitment just a show of interest.  We will have an informational meeting Monday after school in room 17 (Mrs. Cuevas's room).   

Sisterhood Shirts

We have a few students who have not ordered their new “Dri-Fit” Sisterhood t-shirt.  Please stop by the office between classes or during your morning break, cost is $9.00 and can be charged to your FACTS account.   TODAY is the DEADLINE.  We will be placing our order this afternoon and will not order again until next school year.

OLA Sports

The OLA varsity team defeated Ocean Springs in 4 sets. The scores were 29-19, 18-25, 25-23, & 25-16.  The Leaders were Becca Walk with 24 kills, Ashley Bulot with 6 kills & 24 assists, Camille Cottone with 12 kills & 11 digs, Chloe Cornell with 9 kills & 14 digs, and Kate Funk with 16 points, 6 aces, & 20 assists. We are 7-1 going into our tournament on Saturday.  

The OLA Kickoff Classic Volleyball Tournament will be this Saturday starting at 8 am. 

The Swim team will swim in its first meet on Saturday at the Biloxi Natatorium. The meet starts at 10 am.

2nd Annual Run for Mercy 5K  Come out and join us for our 2nd annual Run for Mercy 5K on Saturday Sept 21 at the Washington Street Pier.  Registration is $ 20.00 for all students.  Let's see what class can claim "the fastest" in the school!!! You will be able to wear the 5k T-shirt with skirt and school shoes on Monday Sept 23.  Please see Ms. Chapman with any questions.

The OLA Taekwondo Club will meet again on Thursday.

Students should not be eating in the Gap.  All students should eat their lunch in the Commons or the outdoor dining area.   Only exception would be bad weather days.

OLG Church is looking for some high school students to help watch children on Wednesday nights while their parents are at RCIA classes.  Students are needed from 6-8PM and there will be adults from the parish helping.  If you are interested, please sign the list on Mrs. Mayer's office door.  Classes begin this Wednesday.

OLA Sports

The JV Volleyball won its first match last night against Petal in 2 sets.  The Varsity also defeated Petal last night. Their scores were 25-17, 25-15, 25-13. Ashley Bulot had 11 pts, 4 aces & 15 assists. Camille Cottone had 10 pts, 5 aces & 7 kills. Becca Walk had 9 pts, 4 aces, 17 kills & 5 blocks. Alma Hearin had 8 pts, 4 aces & 8 digs. Chloe Cornell had 8 pts, 5 aces, & 12 digs. Kate Funk has 13 assists.  Great job ladies!

Sisterhood Shirts

Sisterhood t-shirts are now available in a “dri-fit material”, which should be much cooler than our previous

t-shirts.  All of our “new to OLA students” and those students who had requested to order a new t-shirt will be the “dri-fit style”.  Also, the Justice Sisterhood t-shirts will now be “yellow”, instead of “lavender”, due to the lavender color not being available in the “dri-fit style”.  If you are in the Justice sisterhood, we highly encourage you to purchase a new shirt. The cost is $9.00 and can be charged to your FACTS account.  If you would like to order the new style, please see Mrs. Hinson ASAP, deadline is this Friday, August 23^rd.

Outdoor Dining Area

Please help to keep our outdoor dining area clean, pick up any trash.  Also, students with second lunch, please make sure ALL of the umbrellas are completely closed when lunch is over.

Back To School Dance

Back-To-School Dance TOMORROW NIGHT, from 7-10 in the OLA Commons.  All grades from SSC and OLA are Welcome.  Come in your best Disco Attire!  Tickets are $5.00 at the door.

Tardies

Students should not be tardy for class. Once the tardy bell rings, teachers will count students as tardy. After your third tardy, students will receive an after school detention.

Lockers

Students should not leave any bags or items on the floor by your locker. Items left in the hallway will be removed.

If you have lost your Sisterhood t-shirt, or need to order another size, please stop by the office to see Mrs. Hinson during the morning break.  The cost to reorder a shirt is $15.00, which will be billed to your FACTS account.   This is the LAST CALL to order a t-shirt, we will be placing our order this afternoon.

Last night, the Junior High Volleyball dropped both matches against Long beach and the JV Volleyball lost to Hancock in 2 sets.  Varsity beat Hancock in 4 sets.

Several items are on the table outside the office, anything not claimed by 3:30 today will be taken to Goodwill.
