OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Friday, December 18, 2020

Good Morning OLA!    Today is Friday, December 18, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Please remain standing for the Pledge:

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which is stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Birthdays

Celebrating birthdays over the Christmas Holidays are Lainie Lawhead, Caelyn Taylor-Henson, Lucy Seal, Sage Sortina, Devin Schepens, Natalie Ladner, Gabrielle Haas, Hailey Capo, Avery Matheson, Sania Bell and Ms. Amy Ashley.  Happy Birthday to ALL.

Jesse Tree

Today’s Jesse Tree Ornaments:

  • The angel- In a dream, an angel appeared to Joseph and told him to trust Mary. The angel also told Joseph that the child should be called Jesus. Having a vision in a dream from God was a sign of God's approval.
  • Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem- Since Mary was pregnant with Jesus at the time the command had to be carried out, this explains why Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem and not in the town where his parents lived.
  • The birth of Jesus- The birth of Jesus holds particularly special meaning for us in that because Jesus overcame, so can we. He was able to live and endure this world in human form, teach and love others, point them to the Father, then conquered death, hell, and the grave.

  • David Crowned King- God chose David to be king because he had a good heart. Mankind  may choose kings by looking for goodness of outward appearance but the Lord chooses kings by looking for goodness of heart.
  • Solomon Builds God’s Temple- The temple is a symbol of holiness and royalty, it reminded the Israelites that God was the special head of Israel.
  • Jonah and the Whale- Because Jonah does not listen to God and avoids Nineveh, God punishes him, using the wicked storm and then the belly of the whale. After Jonah praises God and does what he is told, he questions God's action of sparing the people of Nineveh.

Jesse Tree

Today’s Jesse Tree Ornaments:

  • The coat of many colors- Joseph was one of the twelve sons of Jacob. Joseph loved him the most so he gifted him a rainbow colored cloak. The other eleven brothers get jealous and sell him into slavery. Joseph was able to interpret dreams and their meanings and Joseph saved his family, who sold him into slavery by providing them with food during the famine. This is a good example of how we should be forgiving within our lives.
  • The 10 Commandments- When Moses and Aaron go up on Mount Sinai, God first reminds them of what he has done for them. He then tells them what they need to do in order to live in relationship with God and one another. We call these instructions the Ten Commandments.
  • Bundle of wheat- While Ruth is working in the fields, she meets Boaz, the landowner, who is attracted to her and hears her story. Moved in his heart, he tells his workers to make sure that Ruth has plenty of grain to gather.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Monday, December 14, 2020

Good Morning OLA!    Today is Monday, December 14, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:26-28  God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."

Thoughts on today's verse:  Wow! Such a familiar sentence packed with emotion. An angel comes to Nazareth to visit and speak with a young woman engaged to be married. Before the history-shattering news is announced, she is given one key reminder that will be truer than she could imagine, "The Lord is with you."

"Be with us Lord, we cannot live without you.  " Father, we need your abiding presence to face the challenges of life. As you have upheld your children through the ages, we are thankful to greet each day knowing that we will not face it alone.  Through Jesus we pray.

Jesse Tree

Today’s Jesse Tree Ornaments:

  • God’s Promise to Abraham- God had promised that Abraham would be the father of many descendants, but his wife, Sarah, seems unable to have children. God promises Abraham that he will have a son with Sarah. More than that, the descendants of Abraham will be as numerous as the stars in the sky.
  • The ram- God sends an angel with the message that Abraham must sacrifice his son, Isaac. Abraham obeys without hesitation. Abraham goes alone with Isaac, who is made to carry the wood for his own sacrifice. When Isaac asks what animal will be sacrificed, Abraham answers that God will provide.
  • Jacob’s Ladder- In a dream, Jacob receives a divine revelation. He sees a ladder going up from earth to heaven. In the vision, Jacob meets God who confirms the covenant made to Abraham and Isaac.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Friday, December 11, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Friday, December 11, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 7:14   The Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Thoughts on today's verse:  God is interested in us personally. So much so that he personally gives us this sign - Jesus coming to live as God with us. Holy and Almighty Lord, we thank you for coming to live among us in Jesus.   We thank you and praise you for your sacrifice and pain. We know this sign cost you greatly so please let our praise in prayer, song, thought and life reflect our thanks to you, Through Jesus we pray.

Amen.

Birthdays

Celebrating their birthday today is Kaylee Hardenstein.  Happy Birthday Kaylee!  And celebrating birthdays over the weekend are Ashley Bulot, Megan Laville and Adyson Geil.  Happy Birthday to ALL!

Jesse Tree

  • Today’s Jesse Tree ornament:
  • The snake and the apple represent the fall of man. Eve was tempted by the serpent to eat of the fruit of good and evil, even though God warned them to not eat of the fruit of this tree. Eve then gave the apple to Adam, and because of this they hid from God because they knew they were naked. Because of their disobedience, God banished them from the Garden of Eden and presented them with the hardships we endure to this day.
  • Noah’s Ark- The story of Noah represents how deeply we have fallen into sinfulness. God decides to complete the destruction that sin has started. God is pained by and disappointed in humankind, but in his he wanted to save the human family through Noah and his Ark.
  • The Promise Land- The Lord has said to Abraham “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you…” Abraham puts his faith and trust in God to lead him and his family to God’s Promised Land.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thursday, December 10, 2020

Good Morning OLA!

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 4:4-5   When the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.

Thoughts on today's verse:  God waited until history reached his appointed time and sent Jesus so we could be his children -- not pretend children, but real children, with full rights.  While I know that I will never be a perfect child, I rest today in the confidence that I am your child and that you claim me. Through Jesus we pray.

Jesse Tree

Today we begin placing ornaments on our Jesse Tree.  Notice the tree outside of Mrs. Patton’s room in St. Joseph Hall.  The Jesse Tree represents Jesse and his family. David, his son, was the greatest King of Israel. God has granted him wisdom, understanding, counsel, strength, knowledge, and fear of the Lord, and promised that the Messiah would come from his line.

  • The WatchTower ornament- Acknowledging that he does not understand God’s will, Habakkuk stands ready to hear what God has to say. God assures Habakkuk that no matter what seems to be happening on the surface, God’s ultimate plan for the Judeans who live in faithfulness will not be delayed.
  • The Creation ornament- The Earth represents God’s creation of humans, male and female, in his image and likeness. God created us to be fruitful and multiply to fill the earth. When God created us, dominion was granted over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame and wild animals, all creatures that crawl on the earth, and seed-bearing plants that bear fruit to eat.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday, December 9, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 18:15   The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like [Moses] from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Jesus is that prophet like Moses. He has come and taught us God's truth.  He has taught us with his example, through the deeds he has done. He is teaching us through his abiding presence in us and through the Spirit he has given us. But he teaches us most effectively when we put into practice what he has said.

Lord, Help us not only hear his voice, but listen to his message and life and put it into practice today.  Gently correct and lead us in the way of obedience so that we may more perfectly glorify you with the worship of our daily life. Through Jesus we pray.

Amen.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tuesday, December 8, 2020

Good Morning OLA!  Today is Tuesday, December 8, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Thoughts on today's verse:  I don't want to be any more exclusive than Jesus. But I do want to hear his voice. He calls me to find the way to the Father through him. I must also know that others must know him to find their way to the Father, too. How can we not be more passionate about those around us who do not really know Jesus as their Savior, Redeemer, Brother, and Lord? How can the first four books of our New Testament lie unread?

Holy God and Righteous Father, give me a passion for Jesus and a heart that knows him in word, deed, and concern. Through Jesus we pray.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Monday, December 7, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Monday, December 7, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

John 10:14-15   [Jesus said,] "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me - just as the Father knows me and I know the Father - and I lay down my life for the sheep."

Thoughts on today's verse:  In a world where so many people want to attract our attention and are willing to give us advice, we can refuse their voice. We listen to Jesus because he has shown his love for us by laying down his life for us. He is the Good Shepherd.

Holy Father, Help me hear his voice through your Word. Help me hear his voice through the wise counsel of spiritual friends. Father, I want to follow your Son as my Shepherd and Lord because I know he, like you, is good!  Through Jesus we pray…

John 8:12   When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Thoughts on today's verse:  To follow Jesus means to bring him our heart and let him cast everything from the darkness. In this way, Jesus gives us light that illumines the heart.

Holy God who lives in glorious and irrepressible light, we praise you for sending Jesus to cast away our dark fears.  We pray for strength and courage to not only live in the light, but show others their way to the light. In Jesus name we pray.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thursday, December 3, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

John 6:35   Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."

Thoughts on today's verse:  We crave food at regular intervals during the day. During this holiday season food occupies our thoughts and fills up our activities. But deep in our soul is a hunger, a soul hunger. It cannot be filled by food, drink, or chemicals. This hunger was the desire built into us by our Creator, placed there when he knit us together in our mother's womb. This hunger can only be satiated by Jesus.

Please fill me, my Father, with Jesus. Give me today, my Daily Bread, that I may find life in all its fullness. Precious Lord, Jesus my brother and Savior, fill me and touch me with your presence so that I can serve you by blessing those around me with your grace. Through Jesus we pray

Amen.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday, December 2, 2020

Good Morning OLA!  Today is Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 1:1-2  In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

Thoughts on today's verse: God is a speaking God. He loves us and has chosen to get his message to us in words. But God's greatest message, his most powerful words, were not really words at all, but a person named Jesus of Nazareth, who is Christ and Lord of all.  Holy Father, help me to see Jesus and his work and purpose more clearly as I open your Book and seek to understand your will. Fill me with your Spirit, so that I may greet each decision awakened to the answer to "What would Jesus do?" Through Jesus, my Lord and Savior we pray.

Amen.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tuesday, December 1, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

John 1:1-14  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Just as God purposely sent Jesus at the right time to the right place, he did so with us. We are here to bless others, "not just in word, but in deed and truth!"

Glorious Father, thank you for putting us where we are.  We know we are here to do your work and carry on Jesus' ministry. Help us seize the opportunities you give us today to bless others in the name of Jesus as we pray……

Amen.
