OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Friday, November 20, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Friday, November 20, 2020.  Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

1 Timothy 2:1-2  I urge, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Thoughts on today's verse:   God wants us to be a praying people. But more than that, God wants us to pray for people. The blessing of that kind of prayerful life is that we get to live peaceful and quiet lives full of godliness and holiness. So pray, dear friend in Jesus, pray as if world peace depends upon it, because it does!  As we pray:

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Thursday, November 19, 2020.

Ephesians 1:18  I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.

O God, you are our Hope. We trust in you and your promises.  Please fill us with your Spirit, comfort our doubts, and kindle our passion so that we may serve you with boldness and share your grace with others.  Through Jesus we pray…

Amen.

John 17:17
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

Thoughts on today's verse:  God's promises, God's Scripture, and God's clearest message of all, his Son, are truth. But only the last of these is truth, grace, deliverer, friend, Lord, Savior, brother, Redeemer...

O God, give me a holy passion to know your truth and live it in both word and deed. Make my life a reflection of your Word, who both proclaimed and lived your truth.  In Jesus' name we pray.

Amen.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday, November 11, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Wednesday, November 11, 2020 and it is Veterans Day.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

Let us continue to honor our Veterans, who have served our country with the highest respect.

These words are inscribed on the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C.:

 “Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met.” Those words apply equally to many of our World War I, World War II, Vietnam War and Gulf War veterans as well. They apply to today’s active duty servicemembers — tomorrow’s veterans — who are helping to maintain peace throughout the world. Today, it is our privilege to say “thank you” to all of America’s veterans, to let them know that we appreciate them for their service and honor them for their sacrifices. The price of freedom is high. We cannot afford to forget those willing to pay it. Today, we celebrate America’s veterans for keeping this Nation “the land of the free and the home of the brave.”

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord,
Today we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they
were called upon to serve and protect their country.
We pray that you will bless them for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to
preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s heritage, for all of us.
Bless them abundantly for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made for
their many different contributions to America’s victories over tyranny and oppression.
We respect them, we thank them, we honor them, we are proud of them. We pray that
you will watch over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness.

By Joanna Fuchs

In Jesus' name we pray,

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Tuesday, November 10, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

We continue to honor our Veterans, who have served our country with the highest respect.

When Francis Scott Key wrote the “Star Spangled Banner” almost 200 years ago, he called America, “the land of the free and the home of the brave.” Those words are as true today as they were then. Throughout this Nation’s history, America’s soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and coast guardsmen have bravely answered the call to defend our freedom, to aid our friends and allies, and to turn back aggressors. We can never fully repay our debt of gratitude to the more than 650,000 American service members who died in battle or the 1.4 million who were wounded. We can, however, recognize and thank the 25 million veterans still living today.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

“Father God, You know that it can be difficult for a person who has returned from battle or stressful military service to reintegrate into ‘normal’ everyday life. You know that veterans can feel isolated and alone even in the midst of their  friends and  families because there are few around who understand their experience. So I ask You to place in the path of our veterans those who do understand (or strive to), that they may feel less alone. Remind them often that while their fellow human beings may never fully comprehend, You see, You know and You identify with them in everything.”  In Jesus' name we pray,

Please remain standing for the Pledge:

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which is stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Monday, November 9, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Monday, November 9, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

Veterans Day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War I (November 11) to honor US veterans and victims of all wars. It replaced Armistice Day in 1954.  It’s a day for honoring all veterans — so no apostrophe needed.

Veterans Day is NOT the Same as Memorial Day.  A lot of Americans get his confused.  Veterans Day honors all of those who have served the county in war or peace – dead or alive – although it’s largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices.

This week our prayers will be honoring Veterans.  So please this week especially but always hold those who have served our country with the highest respect.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

“God, please let every veteran of our nation’s armed forces feel truly and appropriately honored by the attention and appreciation of their fellow citizens. Let no one feel forgotten or neglected. Let every man and woman, young or old, feel the deep and enduring gratitude of our nation and its inhabitants.”   In Jesus' name we pray,

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Please remain standing for the Pledge:

I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which is stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Friday, November 6, 2020

Good Morning OLA!  Today is Friday, November 6, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

O Precious Father, we know our hearts can be deceitful. At times we can even fool ourselves. But when we kneel in your presence and are convicted by your Word, we find ourselves reminded of the areas we have not yet fully submitted to your control and Jesus' lordship. Please, dear Father, use the Holy Spirit to gently show and convict of our self-deceptions so that we may be wholly lost in your will. In Jesus' name we pray,

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thursday, November 5, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Thursday, November 5, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 13:6  This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Thoughts on today's verse:  Paul keeps reminding us in Romans 13 that civil authorities are God's tools to hold back anarchy, chaos, and lawlessness. As a Christian, I'm immune to most laws because my faith in Jesus is going to regulate my behavior far more strictly than a legal code. But I do have a responsibility to be a good citizen, a good financial manager, a nice respectful neighbor, and a person who willingly honors those who have merited it.

Prayer:  Almighty God, I pledge allegiance to you. You alone are Sovereign, Ruler, and King. But because you call me to honor my government, because you have so richly blessed me to be in a land such as this, because you have lavished your grace on me so richly, I will live today in a way that honors my allegiance to you, my citizenship in my country, and my respect toward those whom I meet this day. In Jesus I pray
,

Our Father, Who art in heaven Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

OUR LADY ACADEMY MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wednesday, November 4, 2020

Good Morning OLA!   Today is Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

Please stand for our morning prayer as we remember that we are in the presence of God.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:6 - He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant - not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Thoughts on today's verse:  A new covenant -- God willingly entered into a new agreement with us, his creatures, sealed it with the blood of his Son Jesus, and sent the Spirit to give us the power to live the life of this new covenant. God has made a covenant of love and grace with us.

O holy and majestic God, thank you for your grace that has saved us from sin and has redeemed us from the law of sin and death. Thank you for sending the gift of your Son and the gift of your Spirit so that we can live with you in a covenant of life, grace, and love. While we confess our weaknesses, we also promise you that we will live to honor your sacrifice, love and covenant, trusting that you will ultimately empower us to be what you are calling us to be.  Through Jesus we pray…

Amen.
